William L. Nolan

66, of Springfield died at 7:35 a.m. Friday at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born May 29, 1924, in East St. Louis, the son of Louis Ira and Helen T. Sewell Nolan. He married Mary Catalano in 1946 in Springfield. Mr. Nolan was employed by Springfield Postal Service in machine maintenance for 34 years, retiring in 1982. Preceding him in death were one brother, Arthur Louis Nolan Sr.; two sisters, Delores Irene Weller and Iris Norene Randleman; a nephew; four nieces.

A resident of Springfield for many years, Mr. Nolan was a member of Church of the Little Flower and of several Springfield bowling leagues. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 101st Airborne.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Mary E.) Combis of Pekin and Mrs. Robert (Helen E.) Frantz of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Little Flower, with the Rev. Kenneth Steffen officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
