PEKIN - Mary Elizabeth Combis, 71, of 1215 S. 10th St. died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001, at her residence.

Born Oct. 24, 1929, in Springfield to Ira Lewis and Helen E. Sewell Nolan, she married Robert Charles Combis on Feb. 27, 1950, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Kemp of Pekin and Timothy Kieser of Topeka, whom she raised; and a grandniece, Stephanie Sapp of Manito, whom she helped raise.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

She was a bookkeeper for Fort & Shock Chrysler-Plymouth for 30 years, retiring in September 1991.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Claud Slate will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Hospice in Peoria.
