Deceased Name: James Locke Hews Hawkes

James Locke Hews Hawkes, 56 of Boise, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2001. He was a survivor of LLC and struggled daily with it and recently contracted Legionnaires Disease. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 7, 2001 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise with burial following at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.

Jim was born July 13, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James L. and Arline (Hews) Hawkes. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Bonneville High School. He attended Weber State University and served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until 1969. He began his professional career in radio and began working at KBOI radio where he worked as production director until 1970. He started Hawkes Advertising in 1971 and worked in developing advertising campaigns for print, TV and radio. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Idaho Advertising Association and was the world's best advertising and public relations person. That was not where his heart was so he went to work in firefighting equipment sales. He worked for a couple of different firefighting sales companies and was working for Skaggs at the time of his death.

He was a very selfless person and always placed other's interests before his own. He was very dedicated to his God, his family and especially his children and grandchildren. His hobbies include his work, model trains, the outdoors and his membership in the Adam Hawkes Family Association where he was involved in genealogy work and in tracing his family heritage.

Jim is survived by his children: Paul Henderson and wife Katie of Denver, Colorado, Kevin Hawkes of Boise, Paige L. H. Czykoski and husband Patrick of Boise and Adam Hawkes and wife Sherri of Boise. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Kyle, Jade, Joseph, Johnathan and Carson, a sister: Nancy Barshaw and husband Greg and his godparents: Harry Paul and Olive Jones of Ogden. He is also survived by many other family members and his dog Velcro.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
